Colombia Supremo – dark roast
Produktbeskrivelse
Colombia Supremo – bold and full-bodied dark roast coffee
Colombia Supremo is a versatile Colombian coffee that we at Brændeholm Risteri roast to several different roast levels.
In the dark roast version, we aim for more body, intensity, and roast character than in our light and medium roast editions.
The tasting notes are dark chocolate, tangy fruit, and caramel.
Even though fruitiness is still part of the coffee's flavor profile, we find the acidity to be less prominent in the dark roast. Instead, the coffee's body, dark chocolate, and caramel sweetness come through more clearly.
This makes this Colombia Supremo particularly interesting for those who prefer a bolder coffee – and especially for espresso and milk-based coffee drinks.
If you would like to read more about the difference between our roast levels, you can see our guide to light, medium, and dark roast profiles.

What does dark roast Colombia Supremo taste like?
The dark roast Colombia Supremo is the bolder and most full-bodied of our three roast levels for this coffee.
In the cup, we especially experience:
- Dark chocolate
- Caramel sweetness
- Good body
- More distinct roast character
- Fruity undertones in the background
- Less prominent acidity than in the lighter roasts
The dark roast thus changes the balance of the coffee.
While the light roast version emphasizes freshness and fruitiness to a greater extent, the dark roast moves toward a deeper, bolder, and fuller coffee expression.
Why do we roast Colombia Supremo dark?
We roast Colombia Supremo dark when we want to highlight body, intensity, and deeper flavor nuances.
The roasting leaves more room for the dark chocolate and caramelized sweetness, while the fruity acidity recedes into the background.
This makes the dark roast particularly suitable for brewing methods and coffee drinks where the coffee should have a clear character.
If you normally prefer a bolder coffee over a light and very fruity cup, this roast level is a great place to start.
Dark roast Colombia Supremo for espresso
It is especially for espresso that we think the dark roast Colombia Supremo truly shines.
The bolder roast profile produces a full-bodied espresso with clear notes of dark chocolate and caramel, while the fruitiness ensures the coffee still maintains its character.
For espresso, we recommend whole coffee beans so that you can adjust the grind size precisely for your machine, dose, and desired extraction.
If you need help with the settings, you can use our guide to better espresso.

Especially good for cappuccino, flat white, and latte
In our experience, the dark roast Colombia Supremo works particularly well in milk-based coffee drinks.
When espresso is mixed with milk, a very light coffee can easily be perceived as less distinct. Here, the darker Colombia Supremo provides the extra intensity and body that helps the coffee flavor continue to be a clear part of the drink.
This makes it particularly well-suited for, among others:
Cappuccino · flat white · café latte
The dark chocolate and caramel sweetness also pair naturally with the sweetness of the milk.
For moka pot
If you prefer a moka pot, the dark roast Colombia Supremo is also an obvious choice.
The moka pot brews a concentrated and full-bodied coffee that pairs well with the bolder roast profile.
Here, you get a distinct coffee expression with good body and clear dark flavor nuances.
Can it be used for filter coffee and French press?
Yes.
Even though we especially recommend the dark roast Colombia Supremo for espresso and more concentrated brewing methods, you can also use it for filter coffee and French press if you prefer a darker and bolder cup.
For French press, the combination of dark roast and the fuller-bodied brewing method provides a distinct coffee expression.
See our guide to better French press coffee.
If you brew with a standard coffee machine, you can also use our guide to better filter coffee.
Light, medium, or dark Colombia Supremo?
We roast Colombia Supremo in three different profiles so you can choose according to the type of coffee you prefer.
Light roast
The light roast version is the freshest and fruitiest, leaving the most room for the coffee's origin character.
See Colombia Supremo – light roast.
Medium roast
The medium roast Colombia Supremo is the most balanced and versatile.
Here you get a good balance between fruitiness, sweetness, body, and roast.
See Colombia Supremo – medium roast.
Dark roast
Choose the dark roast if you are specifically looking for:
- More intensity
- More body
- More distinct roast character
- Less prominent acidity
- A coffee particularly suitable for espresso
- A coffee that stands out clearly in milk drinks
Whole coffee beans or ground coffee?
Colombia Supremo dark roast is available in:
- 250 g
- 500 g
- 1,000 g
For espresso, we recommend whole coffee beans because the grind size usually needs to be adjusted precisely for the espresso machine.
For other brewing methods, you can choose from the grind sizes available for the product.
If you have your own coffee grinder, we generally recommend grinding the coffee as close to brewing as possible.
