About Brændeholm Risteri – coffee roastery on Funen
Brændeholm Risteri is a small, Danish coffee roastery near Faaborg on Funen, founded in 2022 by Samuel W. Brændeholm.
Here, we roast coffee in small batches several times a week while running a webshop featuring freshly roasted coffee beans, raw coffee beans, and carefully selected coffee equipment.
Behind the roastery is not a large chain or an anonymous webshop. It is me, Samuel, who is behind Brændeholm Risteri and works with the coffee, the product range, and the daily operations.
From bioanalyst to coffee roaster
I am a trained bioanalyst, and my interest in coffee began long before Brændeholm Risteri became a business.
What especially captivated me about coffee was how many factors influence the finished cup: the raw material, the roasting, the grind size, the water, and the brewing itself.
The interest evolved into home roasting and later into Brændeholm Risteri.
The roastery started small with a Gene Café. Since then, the equipment and production have grown, first with Aillio Bullet roasters and later with a larger Yoshan 6 kg drum roaster.
The development has made it possible to roast larger quantities, but the core idea remains the same: the coffee must be treated with care, and the result in the cup is more important than the size of the production.
Coffee roasted on Funen
The coffee is roasted at Brændeholm Risteri in Vester Åby near Faaborg on Southern Funen.
We roast in small batches several times a week, so there is always freshly roasted coffee ready for our customers.
Different coffee beans taste different and react differently during roasting. Therefore, we do not see roasting as a single fixed recipe that can be applied to all coffees.
The goal is to find a roast that suits the individual coffee and the flavor profile we wish to highlight.
You can find our current selection of freshly roasted coffee beans.
Light, medium, or dark roast
Taste is personal.
Some prefer a lighter coffee with clear fruitiness and acidity, while others seek more body, sweetness, and roast character.
Therefore, with us, you will find both:
We do not try to tell you that one roast level is the only correct one. The most important thing is to find the coffee that suits your taste and your brewing method.
From coffee bean to finished cup
Good coffee does not stop at the roasting.
Grind size, dosage, water temperature, and brewing time can significantly change the result. That is why we also provide guidance on how to get more out of the coffee you buy.
In our brewing guides, you will find concrete recipes and advice for, among other things, filter coffee, V60, AeroPress, French press, Chemex, moka pot, espresso, and cold brew.
The guides' recipes are intended as practical starting points. Coffee is not a fixed textbook, and we therefore recommend tasting the result and adjusting one variable at a time.
Coffee equipment we believe makes sense
Brændeholm Risteri is today more than just a coffee roastery.
In the webshop, you will also find coffee equipment for both regular coffee brewing and the more geeky home barista.
The range is selected with a focus on products that have a real function in coffee brewing – from coffee grinders and scales to brewers and espresso equipment.
The goal is not to have everything. The goal is to have equipment that makes sense for the customer and the brewing method it is intended for.
Personal guidance
One of the advantages of shopping at a smaller coffee roastery is that you can get in touch with the person who actually works with the products and the coffee.
If you have any questions about coffee beans, roast level, brewing method, or coffee equipment, you are always welcome to ask.
I am happy to help find a solution that fits your needs – even if the answer is simpler or cheaper than the product you were first looking at.
