Timemore Chestnut C2 FOLD: A metal workhorse at a great price
Every category of coffee equipment has its intended winner, and the Chestnut C2 grinder from the Chinese brand Timemore certainly stands strong in the mid-range segment for manual coffee grinding. It is well-constructed and grinds coffee with surgical precision.
Quality metal and only a minimum of plastic
At first glance, one would easily place the Chestnut C2 in a higher category, and it wouldn't be surprising. The grinder not only looks good but is also well-made. Inside, the coffee grinder has a full-metal body with few plastic parts. Inside, you will find two 38 mm conical burrs made of hardened steel (G1) and two bearings that secure them to the shaft. Its all-metal grounds container is attached to the body underneath and can be easily unscrewed after a few turns. At the top, the Chestnut C2 is equipped with a sturdy handle with a plastic knob.
Precise grinding in seconds
The grinder is an excellent companion for preparing filter coffee. You can easily set the coarseness of the grind with the adjustment mechanism revealed when you unscrew the container. By turning to the left, you grind finer, and by turning to the right, you adjust the grind to a coarser setting. Remember to attach the handle when checking the coarseness so the shaft does not rotate. When you are ready, it's time to grind. Put the container back on, fill the grinder with coffee beans (it can hold up to 25 grams), close the lid, and you are ready. The first thing you will notice is how fast and comfortably the grinder works. Thanks to the perfectly sharp burrs, you will feel almost no resistance, and you will be done in no time – for a coarse grind for French press, the Chestnut C2 can handle up to 1 g/sec!
