Produktbeskrivelse
Bialetti Rainbow Red 3 cups – colorful moka pot for 130 ml of coffee
The Bialetti Rainbow Red 3 cups is a colorful version of the classic Italian moka pot, which in Danish is often called an "espressokande" (espresso pot).
The Rainbow series is made of aluminum and combines Bialetti's well-known brewing principle with a more playful design. The red 3-cup model brews approximately 130 ml of concentrated moka pot coffee and is a great choice for a smaller portion.

How much coffee does the Bialetti Rainbow 3 cups make?
The Bialetti Rainbow 3 cups has a capacity of approximately 130 ml of brewed coffee.
The designation 3 cups does not mean three regular coffee mugs. Bialetti's size indication is based on small portions of moka pot coffee.
Moka pot coffee is more concentrated than regular drip coffee, and the 3-cup model is therefore a good fit if you:
-
typically brew for one person
-
want a smaller portion to share
-
use the moka pot coffee as a base for a milk-based drink
-
find that the 60 ml from the 1-cup model is too little
If you only need a very small portion, you can choose the Bialetti Rainbow Red 1 cup.
If you want more coffee, you can move up to the Bialetti Rainbow Red 6 cups.
Rainbow – classic moka pot with more color
The Bialetti Rainbow is based on the traditional moka pot principle, but stands out with its bright colors.
The red model combines the classic aluminum construction with a striking look and is perfect for those who want something more colorful than the traditional silver moka pot.
At the same time, you get the simple brewing principle that makes the moka pot a popular way to make concentrated coffee on the stove.
Does the Bialetti Rainbow make real espresso?
No.
Even though this type of coffee brewer is often called an espresso pot, it does not brew traditional espresso like an espresso machine.
When the water in the bottom container is heated, pressure is created, which pushes the water through the ground coffee and up into the top container.
The result is an intense and concentrated moka pot coffee, but at a lower pressure than traditional espresso.
If you need help with coffee amount, grind size, and brewing technique, you can read our guide to coffee with moka pots.
Can the Bialetti Rainbow be used on induction?
Not directly.
The Rainbow is made of aluminum and is therefore not directly compatible with induction stovetops.
If you have induction, you can use the Bialetti Induction Plate 13 cm between the induction field and the moka pot.
The induction plate is heated by the stove and transfers the heat to the aluminum pot.
If you would rather have a moka pot that can stand directly on induction, you can see our other moka pots.
Which grind size should be used?
A medium-fine grind size is a good starting point for a moka pot.
The coffee should be:
-
finer than regular drip coffee
-
coarser than coffee for a traditional espresso machine
-
gritty rather than powder-fine
Fill the filter basket loosely and evenly with coffee.
The coffee should not be tamped.
If the brewing process is very slow or the coffee becomes bitter, you can try a slightly coarser grind size.
If the result is thin, you can try a slightly finer grind.
A good coffee grinder makes it easier to adjust the grind and replicate a good result.
How to use your Bialetti Rainbow
1. Fill the bottom container with water
Fill water to just below the safety valve.
2. Insert the filter basket
Place the filter basket into the bottom container.
3. Add coffee
Fill the filter basket loosely and evenly with medium-fine ground coffee.
The coffee should not be tamped.
4. Screw the pot together
Screw the top and bottom parts securely together.
Do not use the handle as leverage when tightening or loosening the pot.
5. Place the Rainbow on the stove
Use low to medium heat.
On gas, the flame should be kept under the bottom and not travel up the sides of the pot.
If you have induction, use the Bialetti Induction Plate 13 cm between the stovetop and the Rainbow.
6. Remove the pot from the heat
Once the coffee has moved up into the top container, remove the pot from the heat.
Avoid letting it sit and sputter for longer than necessary.
Which coffee beans are suitable for a moka pot?
You can use different roast levels depending on the flavor profile you prefer.
Medium-roasted coffee beans are a good starting point if you want a balance between sweetness, body, and the coffee's character.
If you prefer a stronger and more classic flavor profile, you can try dark-roasted coffee beans.
You can also experiment with lighter roasts if you want more fruitiness and acidity.
Rainbow Red 1, 3, or 6 cups?
The red Rainbow comes in different sizes, so it makes the most sense to choose based on the amount of coffee you normally want.
Bialetti Rainbow Red 1 cup
Approx. 60 ml – a very small portion.
Bialetti Rainbow Red 3 cups
Approx. 130 ml – a compact medium size for a smaller portion.
Bialetti Rainbow Red 6 cups
Approx. 270 ml – a larger portion for multiple people or coffee drinks.
The 3-cup model is therefore a good compromise if 1 cup is too little, but you don't need the larger 6-cup model.
Before first use
Clean the Rainbow thoroughly with water before first use.
Then make coffee a few times and discard the first brews before the moka pot is taken into regular use.
At the same time, check that the safety valve, filter basket, gasket, and filter plate are correctly positioned.
Cleaning and maintenance
Always let the pot cool down before opening it.
Remove the coffee grounds after brewing and clean the pot regularly.
Check the following at regular intervals:
filter basket
filter plate
gasket
safety valve
If a part becomes worn or damaged, it should be replaced with a spare part that fits the model.
