Colombia Supremo – medium roast
Produktbeskrivelse
Colombia Supremo – balanced medium roast coffee
Colombia Supremo is a versatile Colombian coffee that we at Brændeholm Risteri roast in several different roast profiles.
In the medium-roasted version, we find it to be the most balanced of the three. It has more body and roundness than the light-roasted version, but at the same time a less distinct roasting character than the dark-roasted one.
The tasting notes are dark chocolate, tangy fruit, and caramel.
This results in a coffee with sweetness, fruitiness, and body, without any one part of the flavor profile becoming dominant.
This makes the medium-roasted Colombia Supremo an obvious choice if you want an all-round coffee that works well for many different brewing methods.
If you would like to read more about the differences between roast levels, you can see our guide to light, medium, and dark roast profiles.

What does medium-roasted Colombia Supremo taste like?
The medium roast lies between the fresh and more fruity light roast and the stronger dark roast.
In the cup, we particularly experience:
- Roundness
- Good balance
- Pleasant sweetness
- Fruity freshness
- Dark chocolate
- Caramel
- More body than the light-roasted version
The tangy fruit flavor note contributes freshness to the coffee, but the overall profile remains round and balanced.
It is precisely the balance between fruitiness, sweetness, and body that makes this roast level particularly useful.
Why do we roast Colombia Supremo medium?
The medium roast provides a good balance between the raw coffee's own character and the taste from the roasting.
Compared to the light-roasted version, the coffee gains more body and a rounder expression.
Compared to the dark-roasted version, the fruity and sweet nuances are given more room.
This is why it is the Colombia Supremo we especially recommend if you want one coffee that can be used for many different brewing methods.
Colombia Supremo for filter coffee
The medium-roasted Colombia Supremo works very well for filter coffee.
Here you get a balanced cup where dark chocolate, fruitiness, and caramel can be experienced without a very light or very dark roast character.
If you brew with a standard coffee machine, you can use our guide to better filter coffee.
Colombia Supremo for French press
For French press, the medium roast provides a good combination of body and balance.
This brewing method typically results in a fuller mouthfeel than paper-filtered coffee, which suits the round profile well.
See our guide to better French press coffee.
Colombia Supremo for AeroPress
The medium-roasted Colombia Supremo is also suitable for the AeroPress.
Here you can work with, among other things, grind size, brewing time, and water temperature, thereby influencing whether the coffee gets a lighter or fuller expression.
See our guide to better coffee with an AeroPress.
Colombia Supremo for espresso
Colombia Supremo medium roast can also be used for espresso, especially if you prefer an espresso where the coffee's fruitiness and sweetness are still evident.
For espresso, we recommend whole coffee beans so that the grind size can be adjusted to the specific machine and recipe.
You will find help with the settings in our guide to better espresso.
If you prefer a stronger and darker espresso, our dark-roasted Colombia Supremo is a better choice.
Light, medium, or dark Colombia Supremo?
We roast Colombia Supremo in three different profiles.
Light roast
The light-roasted version is the freshest and fruitiest and gives the most room for the coffee's origin character.
See Colombia Supremo – light roast.
Medium roast
The medium-roasted version is the most balanced and versatile.
Choose this if you want a coffee with fruitiness, sweetness, and body, which works for many different brewing methods.
Dark roast
The dark-roasted Colombia Supremo is stronger and fuller with a more distinct roasting character.
It is particularly interesting for espresso and coffee drinks with milk.
See Colombia Supremo – dark roast.
Whole coffee beans or ground coffee?
Colombia Supremo medium roast is available in:
- 250 g
- 500 g
- 1,000 g
If you have a coffee grinder, we recommend whole coffee beans and grinding the coffee close to the time of brewing.
This gives you the opportunity to adjust the grind size yourself according to the brewing method you use.
If you do not have a grinder yourself, you can choose a suitable grind size for the product.
