Produktbeskrivelse

Kenya AA Plus Kijani Kiboko – fresh and characterful Kenyan coffee

Kenya AA Plus Kijani Kiboko is a coffee for those who want freshness, fruitiness, and a distinct origin character in the cup.

At Brændeholm Risteri, we choose a light roast profile for this coffee to preserve as much as possible of the expression the raw coffee brings with it. Instead of letting the roast dominate, we aim to give space to the coffee's naturally lively and fruity character.

The tasting notes are lemon, lime, and raspberry. This makes for a coffee with a fresh expression, but there is also more depth in the cup than the citrus notes alone might suggest.

The supplier's flavor profile describes the raw coffee as full-bodied with a pleasant acidity and highlights, among other things, fruity and sweeter nuances. This harmonizes well with our experience of a coffee where the freshness stands out clearly without making the cup one-dimensional.

If you want to know more about why we choose a light roast for some coffees, you can read about our light, medium, and dark roast profiles.

What does Kenya AA mean?

AA is a Kenyan grading, and this specific coffee is sorted to Screen 17–18. This means that the coffee beans are sorted by size.

The supplier's product data indicates a growing altitude of approximately 1,800 meters above sea level and a harvest period from October to February. The producer is listed as Mumbi.

The high growing altitude is part of the coffee’s origin and growing conditions, while our light roast is used to allow as much of the raw coffee's own character as possible to be expressed in the final cup.

A versatile coffee for many brewing methods

Even though Kenya AA Plus Kijani Kiboko has a distinct light-roasted and fruity profile, we find it very versatile in brewing.

Filter coffee

For filter coffee, the coffee's fresh and fruity character is given plenty of room. It is an obvious choice if you want to experience the lemon, lime, and raspberry notes clearly while maintaining a clean cup.

If you want to optimize dosage, grind size, and brewing on a standard coffee machine, you can use our guide to better filter coffee.

Pour over

For pour over, the light roast can truly let its origin character shine. This brewing method allows you to work with, among other things, grind size, temperature, and pouring technique, thereby adjusting the balance between freshness, sweetness, and body.

AeroPress

In an AeroPress, you get great freedom to adjust both strength and extraction. This makes it an exciting brewing method for a coffee like Kenya AA Plus, where small changes in the recipe can change which parts of the flavor profile stand out the most.

See our guide to better coffee on AeroPress for a concrete starting point.

French press

If you prefer a coffee with more body, it also works well in a French press. Here, the coffee gets a slightly different expression than with paper-filtered brewing methods, while the fruity character is still present.

You will find our recommended procedure in the guide to better French press coffee.

Espresso

Kenya AA Plus can also be brewed as espresso if you like an espresso with a fresher and fruitier expression than classic dark-roasted espresso.

The light roast level means that the espresso will have a different character than our dark-roasted coffee beans. Here, the goal is not a heavy roast flavor, but to preserve more of the coffee's original fruitiness and freshness.

Why do we roast Kenya AA Plus light?

We do not choose the same roast level for all our coffee beans.

For Kenya AA Plus Kijani Kiboko, we use a light roast profile to preserve the origin. The goal is for the raw coffee's character to still be recognizable in the cup, and for the fruity and fresh nuances not to be drowned out by a heavy roast flavor.

This is precisely the type of coffee where we think a light roast makes particularly good sense.

If you enjoy coffees with a fresher expression and distinct origin character, you can explore our entire selection of light-roasted coffee beans.

Whole coffee beans or ground coffee

Kenya AA Plus Kijani Kiboko is available in 250 g, 500 g, and 1,000 g.

If you have a coffee grinder, we recommend choosing whole coffee beans and grinding as close to brewing as possible. This also gives you the opportunity to adapt the grind size to the brewing method you are using.

If you do not have the opportunity to grind the coffee yourself, you can choose from the available grind sizes on the product page.

Roasted at Brændeholm Risteri in Funen

Kenya AA Plus Kijani Kiboko is roasted at Brændeholm Risteri on Funen.

With this coffee, we aim to let origin, freshness, and fruitiness take the lead. Therefore, we keep the roast light and consciously avoid creating the more dominant roast character that we seek in some of our darker coffees.

The result is a characterful coffee that can both be explored with different brewing methods and serve as an exciting everyday coffee if you prefer a fresher coffee expression.
