Sage The Barista Pro Espresso Machine SES878BSS

Sage The Barista Pro SES878BSS is a semi-automatic espresso machine with a built-in coffee grinder, ThermoJet heating system, and LCD display.

This variant is the SES878BSS in brushed stainless steel.

The machine combines grinding, dosing, espresso extraction, and manual milk frothing into one solution, while still allowing you to adjust grind size, dosage, temperature, and extraction.

Ready for espresso in approx. 3 seconds

The Barista Pro uses Sage’s ThermoJet heating system, which reaches extraction temperature in approx. 3 seconds.

This makes heating significantly faster than traditional systems and means you can go from startup to brewing quickly.

Electronic PID temperature control also helps keep the temperature stable during extraction.

Integrated coffee grinder with 30 settings

The built-in conical burr grinder features 30 grind settings ranging from fine to coarser espresso grounds.

The coffee is ground directly into the 54 mm portafilter, and both grind size and grind time can be adjusted so the dosage can be tailored to the coffee you are using.

The bean hopper holds approximately 250 g of coffee beans.

54 mm portafilter and 18 g dosage

Sage has developed the Barista Pro around a 54 mm portafilter and a dosage of about 18 g of freshly ground coffee.

The machine comes with both single-wall and double-wall filter baskets for 1 and 2 cups.

The single-wall baskets are intended for freshly ground coffee, while the double-wall baskets can make it easier to work with, for example, pre-ground coffee.

Pre-infusion and 9-bar extraction

Brewing starts with low-pressure pre-infusion, where the coffee puck is gradually moistened.

This is followed by the extraction itself at 9 bars. The combination is designed to provide a more even extraction through the coffee puck.

On the LCD display, you can monitor both grinding and extraction.

You can choose 1 or 2 shots or control the volume manually.

Manual steam wand for micro-foam

The rotating steam wand is used for manual milk frothing and gives you full control over temperature and texture.

This makes the Barista Pro ideal if you want to work with cappuccinos, flat whites, and latte art rather than using an automatic milk system.

2-liter water tank

The removable water tank holds 2 liters and uses a replaceable water filter.

For compatible versions of the Barista Pro SES878, you can use the Sage ClaroSwiss BES008 water filter.

The water filter reduces the burden of scale, among other things, but does not necessarily replace the machine's regular descaling and cleaning.
