The Timemore AutoSpin WDT Tool is an automatic WDT tool for those who want a more repeatable distribution of ground coffee before tamping.
The AutoSpin is placed directly on top of a compatible 58 mm filter basket. Once the tool makes contact with the portafilter, the motor starts automatically, moving 12 fine needles through the coffee bed in a fixed planetary pattern. Clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation helps break up clumps and redistribute the coffee without manual stirring.
Does the AutoSpin fit your portafilter?
The most important thing to check before purchasing is the shape of the filter basket.
The Timemore AutoSpin is designed for 58 mm filter baskets with straight sides. It is not intended for baskets with curved or tapered sides and does not support 3-lug portafilters.
Therefore, it is not enough for your portafilter to simply be called 58 mm – you must also check the shape of the specific filter basket.

12 needles with planetary motion
The AutoSpin uses 12 needles with a diameter of 0.3 mm. The needles move in a fixed path, alternating between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation.
The working depth is up to 22 mm and can be adjusted according to the filter basket and the amount of coffee you are working with.
The four-point support helps center the tool over a compatible basket and also serves as protection for the needles when the AutoSpin is sitting on your coffee station.
Automatic start and stop
The AutoSpin does not need a separate start button during the distribution itself.
Place the tool on the portafilter and the cycle starts automatically. If you lift the AutoSpin again, it stops, or you can let it complete its automatic distribution cycle.

The AutoSpin has a built-in 500 mAh lithium battery and is charged via USB-C.

The AutoSpin must be kept dry and must not be washed under water. Also avoid pouring coffee down through the open top, as this may damage the motor.
