Bialetti Moka Induction 6 cups – red espresso maker

Brew rich Italian moka coffee on induction with the Bialetti Moka Induction 6 cups in red. This model combines the familiar Bialetti brewing method with a special dual-layer base, making the espresso maker compatible with modern induction cooktops.

The upper container features Bialetti's classic octagonal shape, while the rounded lower section gives the model its characteristic Moka Induction design. The red color also adds a bold and decorative touch to the kitchen.

Developed for induction

The Moka Induction's base is constructed with two layers of metal:

  • An exterior layer of stainless steel, which makes the pot magnetic and suitable for induction

  • An interior layer of aluminum, which distributes heat evenly during brewing

This construction allows the espresso maker to be used directly on an induction cooktop without a separate induction adapter.

It can also be used on:

  • Gas stoves

  • Electric cooktops

  • Ceramic cooktops

  • Induction cooktops

For induction, electric, and ceramic cooktops, the highest heat setting should be avoided. On gas, the flame must be kept under the base of the pot so it does not reach the sides or the handle.

Six small cups of moka coffee

Bialetti specifies the size as six cups and a brewing capacity of approximately 270 ml.

The cup sizing is based on small Italian coffee cups and does not correspond to six standard coffee mugs. The amount is typically suitable for:

  • Several small servings of moka coffee

  • Two larger cups

  • Coffee for milk-based drinks

  • Sharing between two or three people

Moka coffee can be enjoyed as is or used as a base for cappuccino, caffe latte, flat white, and iced coffee.

Rich coffee from the stove

A moka pot brews under moderate pressure as heated water moves from the base through the ground coffee and into the pot's upper chamber.

The result is a concentrated and aromatic coffee with more body than regular filter coffee. However, it is not technically identical to espresso from an espresso machine, which is brewed at significantly higher pressure.

How to brew with Bialetti Moka Induction

  1. Fill the base with water up to the level of the safety valve.

  2. Place the filter funnel into the base.

  3. Fill the funnel with coffee ground for a moka pot.

  4. Distribute the coffee evenly without tamping or pressing it down.

  5. Remove any loose coffee from the rim.

  6. Screw the top and base tightly together.

  7. Place the pot on the cooktop at low to moderate heat.

  8. Remove the pot from the heat once the coffee has risen and the sound begins to change.

  9. Stir the finished coffee gently before serving, if desired.

Use coffee that is ground finer than regular filter coffee, but coarser than traditional espresso grind. A grind that is too fine or compressed coffee can impede the flow of water.

Bialetti's safety valve

The Moka Induction is equipped with Bialetti's safety valve, which is designed to be easily inspected and cleaned.

Do not fill the water higher than the valve. Also, ensure the valve is not covered by limescale or coffee residue.

Handle with soft-touch finish

The handle and lid knob are made of PA66 plastic with a soft-touch finish. The ergonomic handle provides a stable grip when pouring the coffee.

The handle can still become hot if exposed to high heat or a gas flame that extends beyond the bottom of the pot.

Cleaning and maintenance

Allow the espresso maker to cool after use, then disassemble the parts. Rinse all parts with lukewarm water and remove coffee grounds from the filter funnel and filter plate.

Bialetti recommends not using dish soap or abrasive cleaning agents. The pot must not be washed in the dishwasher, as this can damage the materials and affect the taste of the coffee.

Allow the parts to dry completely separately before reassembling the pot. Regularly check the gasket, filter plate, and safety valve.

Frequently asked questions

How much coffee does the Bialetti Moka Induction 6 cups brew?

The pot brews approximately 270 ml of moka coffee. Bialetti's six cups refer to small Italian coffee servings and not regular coffee mugs.

Can it be used directly on induction?

Yes. The exterior stainless steel layer of the base makes the pot induction compatible. No separate induction adapter is required.

Can it also be used on gas and electric cooktops?

Yes. The Bialetti Moka Induction can be used on induction, gas, electric, and ceramic cooktops.

Does Moka Induction make real espresso?

Not in a technical sense. A moka pot brews at a lower pressure than an espresso machine, but yields a concentrated and rich coffee, often called moka or moka coffee.

What kind of coffee should I use?

Use coffee ground specifically for a moka pot. The grind should be finer than filter coffee, but coarser than coffee for a traditional espresso machine.

Should the coffee be pressed down into the filter funnel?

No. Fill the filter funnel and distribute the coffee evenly without tamping or pressing it down.

How high should the water be filled?

Fill the base with water up to the level of the safety valve. The water must not cover or exceed the valve.

Is the espresso maker dishwasher safe?

No. Rinse the parts with lukewarm water without dish soap, and let them dry completely before reassembling the pot.
