Hario V60-02 Ceramic Tachikichi Shozui – Pour Over Dripper
Produktbeskrivelse
Hario V60-02 Tachikichi Shozui – Japanese coffee brewing and ceramic tradition
Hario V60-02 Ceramic Tachikichi Shozui combines one of the world's most famous pour over brewers with hundreds of years of Japanese ceramic tradition.
The dripper was created in an official collaboration between Hario and Tachikichi, a traditional ceramics house founded in Kyoto in 1752.
The result is not just a functional Hario V60, but a special ceramic edition featuring the traditional Shozui pattern, which gives every brew a distinct Japanese aesthetic.
Beneath the decoration, you will find the well-known V60 brewing principle with its cone shape, spiral ribs, and one large opening at the bottom – developed to give you great control over your pour over coffee.

A collaboration between Hario and Tachikichi
Tachikichi was founded in Kyoto in 1752 and has been working with Japanese porcelain and ceramics for generations.
In this collaboration with Hario, Tachikichi’s traditional ceramic style meets the modern V60 brewer.
This makes this edition interesting on two levels:
You get the familiar functionality of a Hario V60-02, while the dripper features a design with a clear reference to Japanese craftsmanship and ornamentation.
This makes the Tachikichi Shozui perfect for those who do not just see a coffee brewer as a tool, but also want coffee equipment with history, character, and a unique visual expression.
What does Shozui mean?
Shozui – 祥瑞 – is associated with a good or auspicious omen.
The pattern tradition combines geometric decorations with symbols that are associated with happiness and good wishes in Japanese culture.
This dripper includes motifs inspired by, among others:
- pine
- bamboo
- plum blossom
- geometric tortoise shell patterns
Tachikichi describes the decoration as having been created with a wish for happiness for the person who uses it.
This makes the Shozui version significantly different from a standard solid-colored V60 and an obvious choice if your coffee gear should also have a story.
The classic Hario V60 in size 02
Even though the decoration is special, the brewing is based on the classic Hario V60 principle.
The dripper's interior construction consists of three central elements:
The cone shape
The cone-shaped filter holder creates a relatively deep layer of coffee and directs the water toward the center of the brew.
Spiral ribs
The ribs on the inside create space between the paper filter and the dripper, helping water and air move through the brew.
One large opening
Unlike coffee filters with several small holes, the V60 has one large opening at the bottom.
This means that you largely control the flow yourself through, among other things, the grind size and the way you pour the water.
If you want to learn the technique from scratch, you can follow our guide to better coffee on a Hario V60.
The pouring technique affects the taste
One of the reasons for the V60 system's popularity is the great control it offers over the brew.
Hario itself emphasizes that the speed of the water flow can be used to influence the result.
A faster pour provides a faster flow, while a slower and more controlled pour can increase the contact time between coffee and water.
You can therefore fine-tune the brew by working with, among other things:
- grind size
- coffee amount
- water amount
- water temperature
- pour speed
- number of pours
- total brew time
This makes the V60 particularly interesting if you like to work actively with coffee brewing rather than just pressing a button.
V60-02 – the versatile size for 1–4 cups
The Tachikichi Shozui is a Hario V60 size 02, which Hario rates for approximately 1–4 cups.
The 02 is a versatile size because it can be used for both a single cup and larger brews.
It is therefore a good choice if you sometimes brew coffee for yourself and other times for more people.
How much coffee you actually brew depends, of course, on your recipe and the size of your cups.
Which filters fit the Hario V60-02 Tachikichi?
The dripper uses cone-shaped Hario V60 paper filters in size 02.
It is important to choose size 02 so that the paper filter fits the shape of the dripper correctly.
You can, for example, use our Hario V60-02 white paper filters – 100 pcs..
Feel free to rinse the paper filter and the ceramic dripper thoroughly with hot water before adding the coffee.
This rinses the filter and simultaneously helps to preheat the porcelain before brewing.
Ceramic V60 – remember to preheat the dripper
A ceramic V60 has more thermal mass than the classic plastic version.
This means that the cold dripper can absorb some heat from the brewing water if it is used directly.
Therefore, we recommend preheating the Tachikichi V60 thoroughly with hot water before brewing.
Place the paper filter in the dripper, rinse it with plenty of hot water, and let the water heat up the porcelain at the same time.
Pour out the rinse water, add the freshly ground coffee, and then begin the actual brewing.
How to brew coffee with Hario V60-02
A simple basic recipe might look like this:
1. Preheat V60 and filter
Put a V60-02 paper filter in the dripper and rinse thoroughly with hot water.
2. Weigh the coffee
A good starting point is approximately 60 grams of coffee per liter of water.
For 250 ml of water, this corresponds to about 15 grams of coffee.
3. Grind the coffee
Start with a medium grind size and adjust according to brew time and taste.
4. Bloom the coffee
Pour a small amount of water over the coffee so that all the grounds are moistened, and let the coffee bloom for about 30–45 seconds.
5. Continue the pour
Pour the rest of the water over the coffee in a controlled and even manner.
6. Taste and adjust
If the water runs through very quickly, you can grind a little finer. If the brewing takes too long, you can try a coarser grind size.
You will find a more detailed procedure in our Hario V60 brewing guide.
Which coffee is suitable for Hario V60?
The V60 is particularly good when you want to work with the individual taste nuances of the coffee.
The paper filter and the pour over method can provide a clean and clear cup where aroma, acidity, sweetness, and various taste notes get the chance to stand out.
There is no one specific coffee that must be used for V60.
We therefore recommend experimenting with different countries of origin and roast levels and adjusting the recipe according to the individual coffee.

What is the difference between Tachikichi Shozui and a regular Hario V60-02?
The brewing principle itself is the well-known Hario V60 system.
The big difference lies in the material and the decoration.
Tachikichi Shozui is a special Japanese porcelain edition developed in collaboration with Tachikichi and decorated with the traditional Shozui pattern.
The regular V60, on the other hand, is available in a large number of simpler versions in materials such as plastic, glass, and ceramic.
You can compare the models in our overall selection of Hario V60.
Is the Hario V60-02 Tachikichi Shozui made in Japan?
Yes.
Hario labels the model as Made in Japan, and Tachikichi describes it as Japanese porcelain with traditional Kyoto decoration.
How many cups can it brew?
The Hario V60-02 Tachikichi Shozui is intended for approximately 1–4 cups of coffee.
The exact amount depends on your recipe and the size of the cups you use.
Which paper filters should I use?
Use Hario V60 paper filters in size 02.
You can, for example, choose Hario V60-02 paper filters – 100 pcs..
Should a ceramic V60 be preheated?
Yes, it is recommended.
The porcelain absorbs heat, and therefore it is a good idea to rinse both the paper filter and the dripper thoroughly with hot water before brewing.
This helps reduce heat loss when you start brewing.
What does Shozui mean?
Shozui (祥瑞) can be associated with good or auspicious omens.
The pattern uses traditional decorative elements, including geometric shapes and motifs such as pine, bamboo, and plum blossom.
Is Tachikichi Shozui a limited edition?
Hario Europe has launched the Tachikichi collaboration as a series of limited edition V60 drippers in limited quantities.
Availability may therefore be more limited than with standard V60 models.
