What does Cafiza E31 remove?
During espresso brewing, natural coffee oils and fine coffee particles are left behind in the machine.
Over time, these residues can accumulate in, among other things:

- the shower screen

How to use Cafiza E31 for backflushing
Backflushing may only be performed on an espresso machine designed for it.
Always follow the machine manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
1. Insert the blind filter into the portafilter
Place one Cafiza E31 tablet in the blind filter.
2. Attach the portafilter
Insert the portafilter into the brew group.
3. Start the cleaning cycle
Activate brewing for approximately 10 seconds.
Stop for approximately 10 seconds.
Repeat the process 5 times.
4. Rinse the portafilter
Remove the portafilter and rinse it thoroughly with water from the brew group.
5. Backflush with clean water
Put the portafilter back in without a cleaning tablet.
Run again:
10 seconds on – 10 seconds off
Repeat 5 times.
6. Brew and discard an espresso
Finally, brew one espresso and discard it to ensure that any remaining cleaning agent has been removed.
Cafiza E31 in fully automatic coffee machines
Cafiza E31 can also be used in compatible fully automatic coffee machines.
If the machine has an automatic cleaning program, you must follow the machine manufacturer's instructions regarding:
- which tablet size to use
- where to place the tablet
- how many tablets to use
- how to start the cleaning program
Do not use a tablet just because it physically fits in the machine.
Cafiza removes coffee oils – not limescale
Cafiza E31 is a cleaning agent for coffee oils and coffee residues.
It is not developed to remove limescale and mineral deposits from the water.
If the machine needs descaling, you must therefore use a separate descaling agent, for example Urnex Liquid Dezcal.
Cleaning and descaling are two different parts of coffee machine maintenance.
