How to use Cafiza E31 for backflushing

Backflushing should only be performed on espresso machines designed for it.

1. Place the blind filter in the portafilter
Place one Cafiza E31 tablet in the blind filter.

2. Attach the portafilter
Insert the portafilter into the group head.

3. Run the cleaning cycle
Activate brewing for 10 seconds.

Stop for 10 seconds.

Repeat this 5 times.

4. Rinse the portafilter
Remove the portafilter and rinse it with water from the group head.

5. Backflush with clean water
Attach the portafilter again without the cleaning tablet.

Run:

10 seconds on – 10 seconds off

Repeat 5 times.

6. Brew and discard an espresso
Finally, brew one espresso and discard it to ensure any remaining cleaning agent is removed.

Use in automatic espresso machines

Cafiza E31 can also be used in compatible automatic espresso machines.

Here you must follow the machine manufacturer's cleaning instructions.

Placement of the tablet, number of tablets, and the actual cleaning program can vary from machine to machine.

Always check that the E31 format is suitable for the specific machine.

Cafiza is not a descaler

Cafiza E31 is used to remove:

Limescale and mineral deposits come from the water and require a product developed specifically for descaling.
