How much coffee does the Bialetti Venus 10 cups make?

The Bialetti Venus 10 cups provides approximately 460 ml of brewed coffee.

The designation 10 cups does not mean ten standard coffee mugs. Bialetti uses small moka pot/espresso cups as a measure of size.

Moka pot coffee is also more concentrated than regular filter coffee and is often served in smaller portions.

The 10-cup model is therefore a great fit if you:

  • brew for multiple people
  • want a larger portion of moka pot coffee
  • want to make several cappuccinos or other milk-based drinks
  • find the Venus 4 or 6 cups to be too small

Can the Bialetti Venus 10 cups be used on induction?

Yes. The Venus 10 cups is compatible with induction.

The base has a diameter of approximately 13 cm, which also makes it larger than the bases of the 4- and 6-cup models.

However, induction stovetops may have different requirements for the minimum diameter of cookware. Therefore, always check the manual for your induction stove if you are in doubt.

Which Bialetti Venus size should I choose?

The choice depends primarily on how much coffee you wish to brew.

Venus 2 cups
Approx. 85 ml – small portion and not suitable for induction.

Venus 4 cups
Approx. 170 ml – smaller portion and suitable for induction.

Venus 6 cups
Approx. 235 ml – medium portion and suitable for induction.

Venus 10 cups
Approx. 460 ml – large portion and suitable for induction.

If you usually brew for several people, the 10-cup model is the obvious choice in the Venus series.

Does the Bialetti Venus brew real espresso?

Although a moka pot is often called an espresso maker in Danish, the Bialetti Venus does not brew traditional espresso like an espresso machine.

When the water is heated in the bottom container, pressure is created that forces the water through the ground coffee and up into the top container.

The result is an intense and concentrated coffee, but it is brewed at a lower pressure than classic espresso.

If you want to learn more about dosage, grind size, and the brewing process itself, you can read our guide to coffee using a moka pot and espresso maker.

What grind size should be used?

A medium-fine grind size is a good starting point for the Bialetti Venus.

The coffee should be:

  • finer than typical filter coffee
  • coarser than traditional espresso
  • gritty rather than powder-fine

Fill the filter basket loosely and evenly with coffee.

The coffee should not be tamped.

If the coffee runs through very slowly or tastes bitter, try a slightly coarser grind size.

If the result is thin, try a slightly finer one.

A good coffee grinder makes it easier to adjust and replicate the grind size.

How to use the Bialetti Venus 10 cups

1. Fill the bottom container with water
Fill with water to just below the safety valve.

2. Insert the filter basket
Place the filter basket in the bottom container.

3. Add coffee
Fill the basket loosely with medium-fine ground coffee.

The coffee should not be pressed or tamped.

4. Screw the Venus together
Screw the top and bottom parts securely together.

Avoid using the handle as a grip when tightening or loosening the pot.

5. Place the moka pot on the stove
Use low to medium heat.

On gas, the flame should not extend up along the side of the pot.

6. Keep an eye on the brewing
Once the coffee has risen to the top container, remove the pot from the heat.

Avoid letting the moka pot boil or sputter for too long, as this can result in a harsher and more bitter taste.

Which coffee beans are suitable for Bialetti Venus?

You can use different roast levels in your moka pot.

Medium-roasted coffee beans are a good all-around choice if you want a balance between sweetness, body, and the coffee's character.

If you prefer a more intense and classic flavor profile, you can try dark-roasted coffee beans.

You can also experiment with lighter roasts if you want more acidity and clearer fruity nuances.

Venus in 18/10 stainless steel

The Bialetti Venus is made of food-grade 18/10 stainless steel.

This distinguishes the Venus series from the classic Bialetti Moka Express, which is traditionally made of aluminum.

The bottom container has a matte interior surface. This is part of the stainless steel treatment and not a separate coating.

Cleaning the Bialetti Venus

Let the moka pot cool down after brewing.

Unscrew the parts, remove the coffee grounds, and wash the parts in warm water.

Bialetti recommends hand washing. The Venus should not be washed in a dishwasher.

Let the parts dry completely before reassembling the pot.

Check periodically:

  • the gasket
  • the filter
  • the safety valve
  • the inside of the column in the top container

to ensure old coffee residues do not accumulate.

Before first use

Before using the Bialetti Venus for the first time, all parts should be washed in warm water.

Bialetti also recommends that the first three brews be discarded before the moka pot is used to make coffee for consumption.
