How much coffee does the Bialetti Venus 6 cups make?
Bialetti Venus 6 cups provides approximately 235 ml of brewed coffee.
The term 6 cups does not mean six regular coffee mugs. Bialetti's cup designation is based on small portions of moka pot coffee.
Moka pot coffee is more concentrated than regular drip coffee and is therefore typically served in smaller portions.
The 6-cup model is a good choice if you would like to:
- share the coffee between several people
- brew a larger portion for yourself
- use the coffee as a base for several milk-based drinks
- have more capacity than the Venus 4 cups
Can the Bialetti Venus 6 cups be used on induction?
Yes. Bialetti Venus 6 cups is designed for induction.
The base has a diameter of approximately 10.5 cm.
However, induction stovetops may have different requirements for the minimum diameter they can detect. Therefore, check the manual for your induction hob if you are in doubt about compatibility.
Venus 4 or 6 cups?
Both models can be used on induction, but the capacity differs.
Venus 4 cups
- approx. 170 ml
- base diameter approx. 9.5 cm
- good for smaller portions
Venus 6 cups
- approx. 235 ml
- base diameter approx. 10.5 cm
- better for larger portions or several people
If you have induction, the slightly larger base of the 6-cup model can also be an advantage on stovetops that have a relatively high minimum diameter.
Does the Bialetti Venus brew real espresso?
Even though a moka pot is often called an espresso maker in Danish, the Bialetti Venus does not brew traditional espresso like an espresso machine.
When the water is heated in the bottom container, pressure builds up, forcing the water through the ground coffee and up into the top container.
The result is an intense and concentrated coffee, but at a lower pressure than a classic espresso.
If you want to learn more about dosing, grind size, and temperature, you can read our guide to coffee with a moka pot and espresso maker.
What grind size should be used?
A medium-fine grind is a good starting point for the Bialetti Venus.
The coffee should be:
- finer than regular drip coffee
- coarser than traditional espresso
- distinctly gritty rather than powder-fine
Fill the filter basket loosely with coffee and distribute it evenly.
The coffee should not be tamped.
If the brewing process is very slow or the result is bitter, try a slightly coarser grind.
If the coffee is thin and weak, try a slightly finer grind.
A good coffee grinder makes it easier to adjust the grind precisely.
How to use the Bialetti Venus 6 cups
1. Fill the bottom container with water
Fill water to just below the safety valve.
2. Insert the filter basket
Place the filter basket into the bottom container.
3. Add coffee
Fill the basket loosely with medium-fine ground coffee.
The coffee should not be pressed or tamped.
4. Assemble the moka pot
Screw the top and bottom parts together firmly.
Avoid using the handle as leverage when tightening or loosening the pot.
5. Place the pot on the stove
Use low to medium heat.
On a gas stove, the flame should not reach up the sides of the pot.
6. Monitor the brewing
Once the coffee has risen into the top container, remove the pot from the heat.
Avoid letting the moka pot sputter or boil for unnecessarily long.
Which coffee beans are suitable for the Bialetti Venus?
You can use different roast profiles in a moka pot.
Medium-roasted coffee beans are a great all-around choice if you want a balance between sweetness, body, and the coffee's character.
If you prefer a stronger and more classic flavor profile, you can try dark-roasted coffee beans.
Lighter roasts can also be used if you prefer more acidity and clearer fruity notes.
Venus in stainless steel
The Bialetti Venus is made of stainless steel.
This distinguishes the Venus series from the classic Bialetti Moka Express, which is traditionally made of aluminum.
The bottom container has a matte interior finish. This is part of the steel treatment and not a separate coating.
Cleaning the Bialetti Venus
Let the moka pot cool down after brewing.
Unscrew the parts, remove the coffee grounds, and rinse the parts in warm water.
The Bialetti Venus should be washed by hand and not in the dishwasher.
Let the parts dry completely before reassembling the pot.
Also check regularly:
- the gasket
- the filter
- the safety valve
- the coffee outlet in the top container
to ensure that old coffee residues do not accumulate.
Before first use
Before using the Venus for the first time, it is recommended to rinse the parts thoroughly with warm water.
Bialetti also recommends discarding the first few brews before using the pot for coffee to be consumed.
