Hario V60 – drippers, filters, and coffee decanters
The Hario V60 is a manual pour-over coffee brewer, where you control how the water is poured over the coffee.
The cone-shaped dripper, spiral ribs, and large opening at the bottom allow you to influence the flow rate through factors such as grind size and pouring speed.
At Brændeholm Risteri, you will find a large selection of Hario V60 drippers, paper filters, starter sets, server decanters, and accessories.
You can choose between several sizes and materials, allowing the V60 system to be adapted for both a single cup and larger brews.
If you want to learn the brewing technique itself, you can find our separate guide to better coffee with the Hario V60.
Which Hario V60 should I choose?
The most important thing is to first choose the right size.
The V60 comes in sizes 01, 02, and 03.
Hario V60 01 – 1 to 2 cups
The V60 01 is the smallest size and is intended for approximately 1–2 cups.
It is ideal if you usually brew coffee for one person and want a compact dripper.
The V60 01 uses V60-01 paper filters.
Hario V60 02 – 1 to 4 cups
The V60 02 is the most versatile size and has a capacity of approximately 1–4 cups.
It works for both single cups and slightly larger brews, making it a great starting point for many home brewers.
The V60 02 uses V60-02 paper filters.
In our range, you will find the V60-02 in plastic, ceramic, and glass, as well as complete starter sets.
Hario V60 03 – 1 to 6 cups
The V60 03 is the largest of the classic sizes and can be used for approximately 1–6 cups.
It is relevant if you often brew coffee for several people or like to make larger portions at once.
The V60 03 uses V60-03 paper filters.
V60 01 or 02?
If you almost always brew one cup, the V60 01 is an obvious choice.
If you want the option to brew both single cups and larger portions, the V60 02 is more flexible.
For most home users, the V60 02 is therefore a good place to start.
The V60 03 primarily makes sense if you regularly brew larger quantities.
Hario V60 in plastic, ceramic, or glass
The brewing principle is the same, but the materials result in differences in weight, durability, appearance, and handling.
Hario V60 plastic
A V60 in plastic is lightweight, robust, and an affordable place to begin.
Its low weight also makes it practical to take on travels or use at work.
If you primarily care about function and want to start simply, the plastic model is a very good choice.
Hario V60 ceramic
A V60 in ceramic has more weight and a classic look.
Ceramic should ideally be preheated with hot water before brewing so that the dripper itself does not lower the temperature unnecessarily when brewing begins.
It is a good choice if you want a V60 that also serves as a more permanent piece of coffee equipment on the kitchen counter.
Hario V60 glass
The V60 in heat-resistant glass allows you to follow the brewing process visually and is available with holders in various materials.
With us, you will find, for example, V60 glass drippers combined with wood.
The glass models use the same basic V60 principle as the other materials.
Which paper filters fit the Hario V60?
It is important to match the filter size with the dripper:
V60 01 → V60-01 filter
V60 02 → V60-02 filter
V60 03 → V60-03 filter
At Brændeholm Risteri, you will find both white and unbleached V60 paper filters in various pack sizes.
A filter of the wrong size will not fit the dripper correctly, so always check the size before ordering.
White or unbleached V60 filters?
Both types can be used to brew V60.
White filters are treated to achieve their light color, while unbleached filters retain their natural brownish appearance.
Regardless of which type you choose, it is a good idea to rinse the paper filter with hot water before brewing.
This also helps to warm up the dripper and the serving decanter or cup.
Hario V60 starter set – an easy way to get started
If you don't already have V60 equipment, a Hario V60 starter set can be a practical solution.
A set gathers several of the basic parts so you don't need to buy the dripper, server, and filters separately.
It is especially relevant if you are new to pour-over and want a simple starting point.
You can always supplement later with a better coffee grinder, precision scale, or kettle.
Hario V60 server decanters
You don't need a server decanter to use a V60.
For smaller brews, the dripper can be placed directly over a suitable cup.
However, a server decanter becomes practical when you:
-
brew several cups
-
want to distribute the coffee among several people
-
wish to mix the entire brew before serving
-
want better space for both the dripper and a coffee scale
In our range, you will find various Hario V60 server decanters, including models in different capacities and designs.
What else do I need for the Hario V60?
You can get started with very little:
-
Hario V60 dripper
-
Suitable paper filter
-
Coffee
-
Hot water
-
Cup or server decanter
If you want more control and want to be able to repeat your brews more easily, three types of equipment are particularly interesting.
Coffee grinder
A coffee grinder makes it possible to grind the beans close to brewing and adjust the grind size.
The grind size is one of the most important ways to adjust flow and extraction in the V60.
Coffee scale
With a coffee scale, you can measure both coffee and water.
This makes it much easier to repeat a recipe and figure out which change actually affects the taste.
Gooseneck kettle
A kettle with a controlled pouring spout gives you greater control over the water flow.
This is especially useful for V60 because the pour itself is an active part of the brewing process.
However, you don't need to buy all the equipment at once. Start simple and only add extra equipment when you know what you are missing in your brewing.
Hario V60 or Hario Switch?
Hario Switch builds on the V60 system but has a valve at the bottom.
With the Switch, water and coffee can therefore steep together before the coffee is released through the filter.
A classic V60, on the other hand, has a free flow throughout the entire brewing process.
V60 is a good fit for you if you want direct control through pouring and flow.
Switch is interesting if you want to work with immersion or combine immersion and pour-over.
Hario V60 or Hario Pegasus?
Hario Pegasus is also a manual filter brewer from Hario, but it uses trapezoidal filters and has a different flow.
The Pegasus is developed to be more forgiving, while the V60 offers greater opportunity to influence the brew through pouring technique.
If you want to work actively with pour-over, the V60 is an obvious choice.
If simplicity and reproducibility are more important, the Pegasus might be interesting.
Hario V60 or Chemex?
Both Chemex and V60 are pour-over methods using paper filters, but the systems are different.
The V60 is a separate dripper that can be placed on a cup or server decanter.
The Chemex combines the brewer and the server decanter in one.
At the same time, the V60 is available in more materials, sizes, and variants, which makes the system very flexible.
The choice therefore depends on both how much coffee you brew and how you prefer to work.
Which coffee beans are good for the V60?
You can brew both light-, medium-, and dark-roasted coffee with the V60.
Pour-over is often used for coffee where you want to highlight the individual taste characteristics of the coffee, but there is no rule that the V60 should only be used for a specific roast level.
Light-roasted coffee beans are ideal if you want to explore more fruitiness and distinct origin character.
Medium-roasted coffee beans typically provide a more balanced combination of sweetness, body, and acidity.
If you prefer a stronger profile, you can also experiment with dark-roasted coffee beans.

How do I brew coffee with the V60?
The brewing technique itself deserves its own guide.
Pouring speed, bloom, grind size, temperature, dosage, and total brew time all affect the result.
That is why we have gathered the practical guidance in our guide to better coffee with the Hario V60.
In this way, this page helps you choose the right V60 equipment, while the guide helps you use it.
